Andrea Dishes on Her Friendship With Tamera
We caught up with Tamera's bestie, Andera, to get the scoop on her beautiful friendship with the mom-to-be...
How did you meet Tamera?
Well, I actually I met both Tia and Tamera in the very first class on the very first day of school at Pepperdine University. After class, we all went to lunch. Everyone knew who Tia and Tamera were, but they weren't even looking at them or smiling. I don't think they knew how to handle having celebrities at our school. I saw that Tia and Tamera were sitting by themselves in the cafeteria. They were just smiling at people and were very friendly, but nobody would go talk to them. I smiled at them because we just had class together. They saw me looking for a place to sit because it was the first day of college and I didn't know anybody. They called me over and said, "Hey! Do you want to come over and hang out with us?" So, I went and sat down and ever since then, we've been friends!
How did you two get so close?
Our personalities are very similar in that Tamera has a really, really big heart and wears her heart on her sleeve. I have that same big heart, but she inspires me to be more open with my emotions and my feelings. I never used to show it as much. She inspires me to do that and be more vulnerable and be who I am and not put a wall up. We have the same core values and plans for our lives. We're very silly and like to have a lot of fun. We're very career-oriented, but like to balance and live life at the same time. Our careers aren't our life. We like to live and experience things. We encourage each other a lot. She's so trust-worthy. She's generous and giving and it's very refreshing. We're both extremely honest with each other—sometimes a little too honest! If either of us have any issues or misunderstandings with each other, we talk about it immediately and deal with it. We literally can't go on with our day unless we get it off our chests! We try to see each other's point of view without getting offended. She tells me the truth, but in love and I do the same.
What do you guys do for fun?
We like to go out and dance. Now that we're older and she's married, we'll go out to dive bars and just hang out. Adam is always with us. We go out in a group with his friends and our friends. We go wine tasting and have nice dinners. But the best times are when we're at the Housleys listening to music and being totally goofy. Adam and Tamera love to entertain. We'll have game nights, dinner parties or just dance around the house. Adam is the best DJ! We just like to live life and not take things too seriously. But when we need our girl time, we go to a spa. We love going to Ojai Valley Inn or Burke Williams in L.A. We'll ride our bikes, go hiking and swimming. We also like to work out. We'll go run (or walk now that she's prego) and do Zumba. We love to karaoke. Tamera can sang! I can't sing. I'm usually the backup dancer. I'll do my ‘90s moves, like the Roger Rabbit and The Running Man, while Tamera sings her heart out.
What's one of the best memories you've had over the course of your friendship?
We took a trip to Hawaii when Tia and Tamera graduated from college. It was Tia, Tamera, Cory, Jerome and I. We went to Maui. Tia and Tamera actually spent the whole summer there, but I was there for a week with them. We had so much fun because I wanted to take them out of their comfort zones. I talked the girls into taking surfing lessons with me. I made them cliff jump and jet ski. I just remember Tamera on the back of my jet ski screaming at the top of her lungs because I was going too fast and right into the waves. I was trying to catch some air and she did not like it! It was hilarious. She said she will NEVER do that again. I'm a dare devil when it comes to that stuff!
How excited are you that Tamera's pregnant?
I'm really, really excited to see what a Tamera and Adam creation is going to be like because they're both such great people. I'm so excited for them. They both have such love to give that I know it'll be overflowing to their child. I'm excited to spoil the heck out of the baby. Now that we know it's a boy, I'm already going shopping and planning the shower with Tia and some of Tamera's friends. I have a huge family, so I am a very qualified babysitter. I'll be happy to give them their date night so that I can bond with the little Housley.
What's your birthday wish for your friends?
My birthday wish for Tamera is that she cherishes every moment of this next big stage in her life. I pray that she takes the time to soak it all in and let herself experience all the joy that comes with a first pregnancy. It only happens once! Happy birthday Tam-uh-rah! Looooove you! I'd also like to say happy birthday to Tia. I'm sending a big hug her way! I wish her a day full of joy and fun with her family!
