Tamera: "The Dolphin Knew I Was Pregnant!"
My time in the Bahamas with my sister and cousins was great! My pregnancy was going pretty well. It was so beautiful. The only time I had issues was on the plane coming back. My ankles had swollen up so bad that my skin wrapped around the strap of my sandals! Other than that, it was a beautiful and memorable trip.
I had no idea I was going to learn as much as I did or meet as many living relatives as I did. I never knew how beautiful Eleuthura was. It's probably one of the most beautiful islands I had ever seen. It's so peaceful and so safe. The people there are just absolutely. I felt very honored and blessed to say that I have Eleuthuran roots within me. They are really beautiful people!
The most life-changing moment, for me, would most definitely be when I saw a picture of my great-great-grandfather. I had never seen a picture of him or met him because he passed away before I was born. It turns our that he was so much older than my great-great-grandmother. I never realized that. He was at least 23 years older than she was. That was just so mind-boggling to know he took a 16-year-old girl to the United States with him, got married and started a family. That was incredibly shocking because I never would've thought that. No one ever talks about the tremendous age difference. That explains why we never knew him because he passed away when my great-great-grandmother was only 50-years-old.
Seeing the dolphins was so much fun! What was really cool was that the dolphin knew that I was pregnant. It could hear my son's heartbeat. The dolphin was very cautious when she approached me. She had to wait a little bit and assess me. It took about a minute. She slowly made her way up to me. With the others, she would just go up to them. With me, she very careful.
I love to buy souvenirs whenever I travel. I got a Bahamas fan because it was so hot there. I also got some really cute dresses. Plus, I bought my son a really cute onesie that says "Bahamas" on it. He was there with me in my womb. I'm really looking forward to teaching him about that side of his culture.
