Cathy Defends Her Blowup at Anthony: The Lioness Came Out

When Anthony said he wanted things done his way for the Modern Salon article, I didn't have a problem with that. I am a partner who goes above and beyond to be fair. So, seeing his excitement that we were chosen, I took a step back.

When Modern Salon arrived with the photographer, I expected Anthony to include Filly in the photo shoot with him. I didn't care if he didn't want to take a picture with me. However, are we forgetting that we are business partners? At least include my son in a photo! I really couldn't believe what I was seeing.

I would have NEVER excluded Anthony if the roles were reversed. I have proven myself numerous times, putting him first and foremost: salon name, image makeover, billboard...just to name a few of the things where I have given Anthony top billing.

When Anthony and I went into the office I couldn't contain my anger any longer.

The only reason I am in business with Anthony is for my son. Seeing him totally ignore Filly made my blood boil. What would it have taken to at least recognize Filly as the salon manager and take a picture...something, anything! I felt like he was treating my son as a bit player in his one-man show! If this partnership is going to work, I need to stand my ground.

My children are my life. I will always defend them, protect them and do whatever it takes to see them treated properly. It's my job as their mother! It hurt me, because I know how much Filly loves and respects Anthony, and I think Anthony got caught up in the moment and didn't realize feelings were at stake here. I don't think it bothered Filly at all, but my maternal instincts felt threatened by Anthony's actions—and the lioness in me came out.

I am a very emotional person, and arguing with Anthony upset me to the point where I started to cry. Seeing how upset I was made Anthony realize I was very hurt by his actions, and he finally understood where I was coming from. It's not that I wanted top billing (far from it), I just wanted him to be fair. After all, that's the right thing to do if you have a partner. If you can't do that, your partnership will never work.

This has definitely been the worst blow-up between Anthony and me, because I reacted like a mother, not a business partner. I hope it's the last.

All in all, the article, the video and the photos came out amazing! Anthony Robert Salon is on the road to a long, happy and prosperous future. After all, we are the HOTTEST salon in New Jersey!!!
