Alexa Prisco's Head Over Heels for Shoes!
The Glam Fairy dishes on every girl's fave subject: shoes!
We know you're a big shoe girl! How high can you go?
I love ridiculously high heels. The higher the heel, the better. I can't walk in a 3-inch heel—I'll trip! It has to be 6 inches.
Have you experienced any fa-shoe-emergencies?
Well, one time, I was wearing a pair of glitter slingback heels and, as I was walking into my friend's apartment in Hoboken, my heel just broke and I fell down an entire staircase!
Tell us about the time you met Christian Louboutin?
One day, I was feeling bad for myself, so I went to the Louboutin boutique after I went to Bumble and Bumble in the city to get my hair done. I got out of my cab, looked up and thought, OMG! Am I crazy? I look at the window and I thought I saw Christian Louboutin. Then, the owner Michael told me to come in. So I go in and asked, Is that…? And they go, "Yup!" It just so happens I was wearing Louboutins at the time. I sat there with Christian and Hugo, the head designer, and tried on shoes. Christian had me spin in the shoes!
What's the first pair of Louboutins you ever bought?
They're the metallic heels with the big knot on top.
What are some of your favorite Louboutin designs?
I like the Pigalle cut of Louboutin. It's a gorgeous extension of the leg and forces you to flex your calf muscles. He has done the Pigalle in endless colors, finishes and patterns. I also love the 20th Anniversary Collection, which is 20 shoes out of his 20 years as a shoe designer. He took his 20 faves and reintroduced each of them with a new spin.
What are some of your rules for what to wear with heels?
You can wear anything with strappy heels. You can wear them with jeans, or a tuxedo blazer with black shorts. Ankle boots are cute with skirts if you do tons of leg glow. I also like ankle boots with really tight J Brand jeans that have a couple rips in them and a leather bomber. My favorite pair of ankle boots are the blue Louboutins with black straps.
What's your No. 1 tip for dealing with painful stilettos?
Stop complaining. You have to be sexy and fierce when you wear heels. If you just complain the whole time, it's like what the heck is the point?! I will wear my heels until my feet bleed. One time, when I went to the Super Bowl and then two concerts in one night, I was almost crying by the end, but I wore them. I wouldn't take them off.
