Tamera Calls Bookshelf Organization Challenge "Symbolic"
Organizing the bookshelf, which was a focal point in my and Adam's Napa Valley home, was quite the challenge. We both had things that we wanted up there. We just had to take a moment to ourselves and realize that we both can't have our way completely. We definitely had to compromise.
I saw the positive in the situation. It was symbolic in the sense that you have two individuals coming together in their new home as a married couple. I really wanted the bookshelf to reflect the both of us.
Adam and I tackled the bookshelf by taking a step back and going through every single piece to see if we both liked it. If we didn't like a piece, then we had to get rid of our pride and just let it go. When Adam and I finally chose pieces that we both liked, then the arrangement turned out beautiful.
My favorite piece of Adam's on the bookshelf is a vintage mirror that was from the 1800s. It's just really beautiful and elegant. Something of mine that I wanted up there that I love was our picture from Croatia. It was taken right after we got engaged. I always look at that picture and it takes me back.
We try to come up to Napa every three weeks to enjoy this home that Adam and I decorated together. I love that I can have a nice balance between the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles and the relaxing vibe of Napa.
