Style Test Drive: Ouidad Bay Leaf Hair and Scalp Treatment
I've undergone three straightening treatments over the years to alter the structure of my naturally wavy and frizzy hair. That might not seem like a lot (I know girls who schedule an appointment at the first sign of regrowth), but I'm a low-maintenance kind of gal and I love volume.
But the last one really did a number on my hair! I'm talking product build-up and increased hair shedding. (Never. Doing. It. Again.) So when I was invited to try out Ouidad's Luxe Mediteranean Bay Leaf Hair and Scalp Treatment earlier this week, I jumped at the chance!
If the name Ouidad sounds familiar, that's because she is the "Queen of Curl." I wish she was around when I was in high school. I really do love curly and wavy hair, but mine wasn't as defined and resplendent as I'd like. And the constant waking-up-an-extra-two-hours daily routine to blow dry my unruly hair straight was brutal!
"It'll help recoil your hair so that if you do have some wave in there, it'll just keep it really bouncy and full of life—give it luster," explained Ouidad hairstylist Kate Scott. "It'll also restimulate the scalp and hair growth."
Long story short, the treatment was ah-mazing! The mix of bay leaf oil, moisturizers and couscous (a natural exfoliant) made my hair healthier, fresh and smooth. Plus, it smelled incredible and I got a head and neck massage in the process. To top it off, Kate was able to make my slight wave more pronounced and weightless using Ouidad's truly genius Rake & Shake method.
Want to experience it for yourself? The treatment starts at $175 at Ouidad locations and affiliate salons across the country. But if you can't make it to an establishment, do an Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse once a week and Ouidad's 12 Minute Deep Treatment Intensive Repair ($25), which you can get on their website, once a month.
