Shining a Light on She Blames Me
Like all of you, we're anxiously awaiting the moment when we can finally buy a piece of She Blames Me jewelry. What girl doesn't relate to the brand philosophy of putting your haters and critics in the rearview?! We had the opportunity to chat with founders Harvin and Meyer Eadon to get all the scoop on the line.
What's the story behind the the name She Blames Me?
Meyer: Around the time Harvin and I first moved moved to Atlanta, we visited one of our college friends who was bartending at a local bar. Our hair was a little bit blonder than everyone else's; we were more tan than most people; we probably had on 6-inch heels. That's just who we are. Everyone else probably had on flip-flops or something. We didn't know a single person in there except for the bartender. We were sitting at the bar with our backs to everyone and, literally out of nowhere, this girl pushed me out of my barstool. Obviously, I got mad. But Harvin was like, "Don't freak out. Don't freak out. Just buy her a shot." I was like, What?! But we ended up buying the girl a shot. Harvin gave it to her and said, "Don't ever be that jealous of someone ever again. It is not a good look. You are way to cute to act so stupid." Then, the girl started to cry. Harvin told me, "She totally blames you." That's where the name comes from.
What can we expect from the She Blames Me line? Where do you ladies get your inspiration for the designs?
Harvin: We are launching our line with six simple jewelry pieces with a loud perspective. She Blames Me originated as nothing more than a perspective. It later grew into a collection. These six jewelry pieces, which are all necklaces, will debut the voice of our brand. We never planned on sticking with jewelry for the long haul, but it felt right to launch She Blames Me with a clearly defined bang. This brand is very close to us. These six jewelry pieces can be worn regularly. They don't limit themselves to a certain season or specific occasion. We design each piece from scratch and we name them after some critic/blamer/hater from our past and/or present. Let's just say we never run dry on inspiration. We have the hardest time choosing which blamers we are going to highlight! Our approach to design is relevant, relatable and even sarcastic. It is a little twisted, exciting and intriguing. It is empowering and confident. Our approach to design is to make trophy-like pieces that make you feel brave and proud to explore creative freedom, tackle your struggles, and love yourself despite those who would love nothing more than to see you fail.
