Olivia's Excited About Making a Book—But Not to Talk to Gigi
At first, when Ant was talking about putting together a book, I didn't know how I could really help. I definitely wasn't an English major! I thought I was going to need a ghostwriter on my behalf. I mean, how well could it come out? But then he said he wanted a picture book and for me to be styling it, and that's what I love to do. I was flattered that he would trust me so much and allow me to style a book that his putting his name and business behind.
Plus, Ant telling me that I have great style, that I am Jersey style, obviously made me feel really good!
When we met with the publisher, we tried to be as professional as possible. We weren't anticipating the responses she gave us! It was a crazy turn-around. It was going to take so long to finish the book and that wasn't what we were expecting at all. We thought we'd get the book out within the next couple of months! It wouldn't come out until next year if we wanted to use a publishing company, not to mention that it would cost us a lot of money, and they needed a copy of the book before they could even say yes to us. It wasn't possible for us to do that, because Anthony and I were backing the book with our own money. We were blindsided.
Honestly, you can do everything on a computer. You can make movies, edit a picture, watch TV and apply to college. There are so many things you can do on the Internet, so why couldn't we publish a book? When I heard that 50 Shades of Gray got published over the Internet, I was like, why don't we just do that? What is the point of paying a publishing company thousands upon thousands of dollars and not even having the book come out for another year? It was a no-brainer to me to think that we could totally do this on our own and turn it around a lot quicker—and a lot cheaper, too!
As far as Gigi, I wasn't sure what to think when she came to my apartment again. She was saying that her friendship with Tracy had nothing to do with me, but she made me a part of it by talking about Tracy behind her back to me and then making me watch them be together all the time and hear her call Tracy "sister." How is that not involving me in their friendship? It made me question her as a friend.
I definitely thought a three-way talk was a good idea because then there would be nothing that could get held back. Besides, It was having a problem with Gigi. I didn't know what to believe. She people-pleased Tracy for so long, always telling Tracy what she wanted to hear, that it was hard for me to believe anything that Gigi was saying. With her relationship with Tracy, she would say one thing and act another way to Tracy's face. Actions go along with words.
