Niki Leads the Salon into Greener Pastures
For me, there is never a time in which one has to stretch the truth under any given circumstance! I don't care what it is. However, in this scenario, his untruth created a win-win situation. Implementing some eco-friendly standards have been what I've wanted to do for awhile now, and his predicament created the chance to do so. In other words, checkmate! I win, we all win!
The most challenging part of greening up the salon wasn't so much the process as much as the time constraint. I mean I had little to no time between AJ's untruth and Alderman Burnett's return with his green team to accomplish what AJ had set into motion! Fortunately for me, we had the green consultant to work with us, and we were able to make some simple yet large-scale changes that will serve us best in the long run!
Taking on this project for AJ was really important to me because I felt we owed it to the environment. What would we do without the environment? How would we sustain ourselves without fresh air, clean water and fruits and vegetables? Without trees, bees and the such? We, as a whole, have gotten far away from our natural ways of living and being. In the western hemisphere, our connection to the earth has waned.
We live on a planet that keeps everything in balance and in harmony. From filtering our air with the trees to purifying our water with rocks, the earth provides everything that is needed to sustain oneself naturally. Even with the onslaught of pollution to the air, the water and the ozone layer, she's still here. We owe Mother Earth greatly! We have a responsibility as the inheritors of the planet to do our part. It is our responsibility to care.
After all the transformations were done, I felt accomplished, acknowledged by AJ and rewarded with a job well done. Everyone was happy. Although this change came about in a manner that I didn't necessarily agree with, in the long run, the end result is all that mattered. The end result being I got what I wanted! And so did AJ!
