Meet JustFab's Receptionist (and "Johnny Whisperer), Jessica!
It takes a big personality to be the recpetionist at JustFab—you need to be able to balance big tasks and even bigger personalities. Luckily, Jessica Flores is just the fashionista for the job! Find out more about her gig—plus how she deals with her friend and dramatic co-worker Johnny!—then tune in to Kimora: House of Fab Wednesdays at 9/8c on Style.
How did you get involved with JustFab?
Knowing my extreme interest in the fashion world, a friend of mine referred me to the open receptionist position. I applied, and two days later, I got the call that they would love to have me as a part of team!
What does your job entail?
Being office manager and receptionist requires balance. Along with a lot of general tasks around the office, I have to wrangle the phones, greet guests and make sure that the office is organized and presentable.
What is it like to work at JustFab?
There are so many amazing perks to working at JustFab, from celebrity sightings, designer clothes and photo shoots to all the lustworthy shoes and handbags. The perks are endless! I would say that the hardest part about my job is the same thing that makes it great: My paychecks go straight to clothes, shoes and accessories. Seeing so many amazing products on a daily basis feeds my shopping addiction. I have resorted to busting out a Carrie Bradshaw move—shoes and bags are in my oven!
What made you want to get into fashion?
I honestly didn't get into fashion until about four years ago. I went through high school shopping at Hollister and Abercrombie, where they have nothing but mannequins and employees telling you how to dress. After I got out of that phase, I began working at Nordstrom, and my eyes were opened up to a whole new world of fashion. There were so much gorgeous products running through my fingers on a daily basis that I finally got it! From then on, I was in love with the art of getting dressed.
On a recent episode of Kimora: House of Fab, you had to help Johnny deal with his ex-boyfriend and work on the viral video. What's it like to be friends with such a big personality?
Johnny is an amazing force to be around! He is by far one of the most outgoing and adventurous people I know. He has such a unique personality, and there's never a dull moment around him. But handling a stressed out Johnny and trying to get him out of a funk can definitely be hard. The reason that Johnny and I are so close—and why he comes to me during those kinds of situations—is because he knows that while I am brutally honest, I always have his best interest in mind. If he's dating someone who he knows is bad for him but doesn't have the confidence to break it off, I will be the mirror he needs to show him that things aren't the way they should be. Johnny deserves someone who is as amazing as he is!
What are some of your passions in life?
I love DIY projects! I will finish one or two, and after every single one I think, "I could start my own business!" It's so much fun to see what your hands can create, so I try to tackle a new project every couple of weeks. I also have a love for vintage items—I'm a total flea market rat! Whether it's furniture, jewelry or records, I get such a thrill out of not knowing who had this item before me.
What are your must-have travel essentials?
When I travel, I like to have as little on me as possible, because it is difficult to go through security with tons of jewelry and a thousand things in your carry-on. Traveling is always so exhausting, so I like to pack a mini survival and renewal kit. Lotion and ChapStick are the most important to me because my skin gets super dehydrated being cooped up in a plane for several hours. Another essential for me is a shawl, because it doubles as a scarf for arrival and a blanket for mid-flight chills. And most important are a book, iPod and headphones to keep me preoccupied.
Do you have a signature scent?
I'm really into flirty scents. I love Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf, because it has a great floral scent with a sassy kick. That perfume is pretty pricey, so I only wear it on special occasions. My day-to-day is Britney Spears Fantasy. I get so many compliments, and people are always so shocked to hear that it's Britney!
