Lianca's Nickname as the Kimora Whisperer Is Put to Work!
JustFab's Senior Marketing Manager Lianca Lyons gives Style the inside scoop on Kimora: House of Fab's premiere episode.
I knew Kimora wouldn't be happy about how industrial the office looked at first glance, so I attempted to be overly enthusiastic about the move as I pointed out the potential of the space. Focusing on the negative aspects of the new office would have only made us crash and burn. I'm known as the "Kimora Whisperer," and one of my secrets to "the whisper" is turning the negative into positive! The glass is half full, not half empty!
This led me to my next obstacle of the day: Kimora's Fab Faves photo shoot.
One of my responsibilities at JustFab is being a mediator for Kimora and JustFab. It can be very challenging at times, but it also builds my communication skills in the workplace. The first challenge? Getting Alyson and Kimora to see eye-to-eye.
I understand both what Alyson wants as the Art Director and what Kimora needs as the model and Creative Director. Alyson was concerned about their disagreements, so I appreciated that she wanted to pick my brain over lunch, but I don't think Kimora necessarily pushes buttons on purpose. I believe Kimora's intention is to challenge you to think outside of the box, to push past what you think you know in order to grow. Understanding that, I try to mediate disagreements and guide them to a happy place. In this case, I tried to help Alyson comprehend Kimora so they could both pursue their visions. And I think it worked!
The next challenge was the monthly photo shoot with Kimora itself, which is always a very full day. The key is to keep on track and focused. Whatever Kimora wants, she gets, because a happy model makes for a great photo shoot! But on this particular day, Kimora seemed to be restless. I had to make sure she had everything she needed for the day, including ice for her drink.
Listen, nothing is too big or small for me. Nothing. I'm also very involved with Kimora's wardrobe for the day. She values my opinion when it comes to selecting the outfits that will be paired with her bag and shoe picks. I personally loved the khaki jumper—it was very cute and on-trend with the popularity of the military look. If my body looked as amazing as Kimora's does, looking like a green bean would be the least of my problems! I would rather look like a green bean than a watermelon!
All in all, we are all moved in to the new space, the photo shoot ended up being great and all is well in the land of the fabulous!
