What trends are you most excited about for 2013?
I love the next iteration of both pastels and neons. I love where plaids are going. Graphics continue to enchant us, and I love a good bootie.
Who is your style icon?
I really feel that to this day, Karl Lagerfled is among the most masterful fashion figures I've ever had the honor of working for and with. The way he manages to control and execute his singular vision is beyond anything I've ever seen. Seeing that had an impact on my business life.
How has your personal style evolved over the past few years?
I've lost some weight, so that has had some impact. At times, the lightness I've felt has been reflected in some more whimsical moments. Items like the graphic tees. There's more room for an overt energy than there was before, I suppose.
What is the most fabulous fashion item in your closet right now?
Anything that I know I can pass on to my girls [Ming and Aoki]. I have a few one of a kind Chanel bags, so those will be fun to bestow—just as soon as I'm ready!
What criteria do you have when looking for shoes and handbags?
They should have an element of luxury because we all deserve that. I look for a hint, a trace, a touch, a detail, a special surprise, something! Something that endears the product to me.
