Kimora: "I Always Want to Raise the Bar"
JustFab's Creative Director and President Kimora Lee Simmons gives Style the inside scoop on Kimora: House of Fab's premiere episode.
I appreciate hearing everyone's input, but each style I select for my monthly fab finds is a statement by me as the Creative Director and President. If something doesn't fall in line with that vision, I still probably love it, but I won't include it in my lineup. I need a clearly defined visual consistency. That's why there were some creative disputes while discussing the photo shoot directions.
The Fab Finds shoot was a long day, but I'm not sure it was a matter of being tired. I've been a model my entire life. I remember shooting entire 30-page catalogues in Italy in one night! It's doing shoots in addition to acting as President and the frequent travel that will catch up with you—not to mention being a working mother.
I always want to raise the bar, and we did that with the final looks from the shoot. I want to keep pushing our brand and its customers up, up, up! It's the only way.
As for my new office, the inspiration board was key for me. I just love it and the ability it affords me to illustrate my point. I'm a hunter and a collector of visual stimuli, so that was a superb addition.
The direction JustFab is heading in is exciting and there's so much energy here. There are so many bright minds all committed to designing and delivering really great fashion to a customer who is ready, willing and enthused about bringing the value and style that JustFab offers into their lives and their closets. I told my staff that we're going big because what we stand for is a big idea: You should get the style that you deserve.
