Johnny Dishes on DVF-Inspired Truck Design & Racing Don!
I was excited to work on the truck design because it was for a really great cause. To be asked by the CEO to attend an event like this and represent JustFab really meant a lot, and I wanted to show my support by designing a fabulous shoe truck.
I was inspired by a similar pattern I've seen Diane von Furstenberg do with hearts, and I thought it would be cute for our truck design. We love shoes at JustFab, so it was definitely a cool concept to have a shoe truck covered in tons of shoes!
While checking out our truck, I honestly had no idea how we would use it or how it was going to work at the event! But I didn't let that stop me from imagining the possibilities. For instance, I thought it would've been cute to have popsicles to hand out in the truck as well as shoes. I mean, it was a hot day in Newport Beach. Maybe next year!
When the final product rolled up, it looked pretty sexy to see all of those shoes on a truck. I'm such a shoe addict, so seeing shoe porn all over the truck made me happy! I definitely thought the design stood out from the rest.
And I loved the expo. It was so fun to see all of these people attend such an important cause so early in the morning. It was truly inspirational.
Two to three hours into the event, however, things got pretty stressful! The line to our shoe truck was super long, because many of the women who were finishing the race wanted to try on shoes. OMG! Let me just say that sweaty feet trying on heels or boots maybe wasn't the best idea—but it was for a good cause!
The only real problem? I had to race too! I know Don loves sports and has a competitive nature that I admire, but that totally isn't me! I hate sports. I suck at running, and I don't like competing. However, racing Don at this event was something fun to do. I don't think I could ever beat Don at a race, though. I mean, look at his legs! He's like the Terminator!
