Get to Know Mr. Fabulosity, Johnny!
If there's anyone who embodies the word fabulous (besides Kimora Lee Simmons, natch), it's JustFab's Senior Graphic Designer Johnny Anastacio. He's gung-ho about everything, from his bold style to saying exactly what's on his mind. Read on to find out more about Nicki Minaj's number one fan, then tune in to Kimora: House of Fab Wednesdays at 9/8c on Style!
How did you get involved with JustFab?
The clothing line that I was working for was downsizing, so I was looking for a new graphic design job. Luckily, I found a job posting for an open graphic designer position at JustFab. I was so happy that I went in to interview because I was impressed with the team, the working environment and the company's growth. I feel very fortunate to be a part of the JustFab familia.
What does your job as Senior Graphic Designer at JustFab entail?
I design assets for the JustFab website, print ads for magazines like Star, OK! and Cosmopolitan and package assets like mailers and postcards.
What made you want to get into fashion?
I remember going into my mom's closet when I was six years old and putting on all of her jewelry and makeup. I remember how fabulous that made me feel, even though my mom caught me and got mad! In the back of my head, I knew there was this fabulous being inside of me that wanted to come out. Two years into college, after a breakup with a long-term boyfriend, I let that fabulosity out, and I was determined to work in the fashion industry.
What is your favorite thing about working at JustFab?
I love being able to work with my fabulous co-workers. There's definitely a company culture here. We're kind of like a fabulous Brady bunch. Kimora is so inspirational and a very smart business woman—I just love being around her and her fabulosity! I think I'm able to absorb some of it when she touches me.
Who do you get along best with at work?
I definitely have this connection with Rose. I think we were married in a previous life. We both have similar experiences from when we were starting out in the fashion industry, and we have these random connections with the people we know and places we go.
How long does it take to get ready for work?
Getting ready to look fabulous for work takes me about an hour. I plan my outfits in my head during my morning showers. It usually works out, but I have to admit that some days, I come up with some weird-ass looking outfits. The whole process is probably one of the most important parts of my day, because I'm stuck wearing that look for the next nine hours at work!
How did the animosity between you and Lesley start?
It's complicated. I'll just say that we never saw eye-to-eye on a lot of things and we ended up drifting apart at work. However, throughout this season, our relationship blossoms and we find things that we actually have in common, like our excessive addiction to shopping, our love for blinged-out accessories and winning!
What do your friends know you for?
Being crazy, outspoken, unpredictable, straight-forward, outgoing, funny, supa kawaii ["super cool" in Japanese] and hella FABulous!
Do you have a nickname?
Some girls in the office call me either Gay Kimora or Gay Nicki. I dressed up as Nicki Minaj for Halloween two years ago, and this past Halloween, I dressed up as Kimora. I've been told some guys in the office got turned on by my Nicki Minaj drag!
What are your must-have travel essentials?
I need to have Kiehl's Facial Fuel moisurizer, Lab Series Power Protector SPF 50 sunscreen, StriVectin-SD Instant Retexturizing Scrub, Davines for Wizards No 13 Mat Forming Ground for my hair, Nicki Minaj Pink Friday perfume and MAC makeup.
What are some of your favorite hobbies?
I'm starting to enjoy filming YouTube videos, so hopefully that'll become a hobby of mine soon! Other than that, I love shopping, making music and designing my own clothes.
What are some of your passions in life?
I love being creative, anything Nicki Minaj, K-Pop and cute boys.
Can you give us a sneak peek this season of Kimora: House of Fab?
The music video that I filmed for the viral video contest is crazy! The song is funny. You guys are going to love it!
