What does your job as Senior Marketing Manager for JustFab entail?
I coordinate all aspects of our photo shoots, oversee the budget, cast models and organize production schedules. I allow the machine to run: If there is a squeak, I have to oil it so it flows better.
How did you get the nickname "Kimora Whisperer"?
It was a joke at first, but then it just stuck! Everyone knows if you want or need something from Kimora, ask me!
What's it like to be Kimora's right-hand woman?
I've been working with Kimora for a year and a half. It's an amazing opportunity that's sometimes quite stressful, sometimes exciting. It's very high maintenance! If we're out in public, I'm always looking around to make sure things run smoothly. I'm looking with my eyes and her eyes. I try to always have her back on everything.
What made you want to get into the fashion industry?
My godmother was a fashion model. When I was 5 years old, she bought me a baby Louis Vuitton bag, a rabbit fur coat and a Guess? watch for my birthday. I was that little girl. I also ran track and field as a child, so to keep us feminine, we would model in annual fundraiser fashion shows. I stole the show every year!
How did you get involved with JustFab?
I sent my resume to an employee that I worked with on a cross-promotion, and she forwarded my resume to Sandra, the hiring manager at the time. I had a phone interview, then an in-person interview with Sandra and founder Adam Goldenberg. I was hired on the spot!
What is your favorite thing about working at JustFab?
I like the fun work environment and my co-workers. My relationship with Kimora has organically morphed into a very endearing relationship. There is mutual respect between us that I will cherish for many years. She is an amazing woman.
Who do you get along best with at work?
I'm really close with our in-house stylist Angela Fink. We respect each other professionally, and we don't let that effect our friendship. We have a rule: Always be honest and tell the truth with each other no matter what.
Can you give us a sneak peek to this season of Kimora: House of Fab?
In the middle of the season, I had a sort of breakdown and showed my vulnerable side. It was hard. I didn't want to be seen as less than perfect. I decided to talk about it in the end because I thought there might be someone watching who is going through the same thing, so it could be relatable. I think it'll be an interesting journey to watch.
What trends are you most looking forward to for 2013?
Black and white graphics! Color! Bangs!
What are some of your passions in life?
I'm a church girl. I'm at church two to three times a week for something. I love to sing praise and worship. Sometimes my relationship with God is what makes me feel alive. It keeps me grounded and sane.
What do the people you're closest to know you for?
A big ball of love! I love people very hard. I'm the little sister, so I'm a bit of a brat too. I have a diva side to me!
What are some of your favorite hobbies?
I love to shop and spend time with my family and friends. And I love the show Scandal!
What are your must-have travel essentials?
Candles, music, a padded sleeping mask and a hoodie of some sort. I can't fall asleep without my ears covered. I know, super weird!
What was your most memorable splurge?
My car! I found and bought it on the same day, and it was ah-may-zing! It was totally last minute but the best decision I've ever made.
