Empire Girls' Ashley Weatherspoon Talks High-Low Style Advice & Stepping Up Her Skin Care Routine

Ashley Weatherspoon has been friends with Adrienne Bailon since the singer's 3LW days, but the sassy gal doesn't hide in her BFFs shadow—she's got tons of personality and loves to be the life of the party! Get to know more about this Empire Girl.

myStyle: What's your style philosophy?
Ashley: I like to be comfortable. I have a lot of body, so I try not to wear formfitting clothes. I love flowy clothes, especially silk. When you have a lot of body, it just feels like you are giving everything away, so I like loose and comfy.

What's it like to shop with your BFFs?
A: I keep Julissa and Adrienne a little more balanced. These girls will walk into Saks like, "I want this, this, this, this, and this!" And I am like, "Who's paying for it, honey?" So they take me shopping and introduce me to the finer things, and I take them shopping and introduce them to the real world. I am more of an H&M girl, and I live for a good Zara. I like department stores like Bloomingdale's and Saks Fifth Avenue. I'm going to a place where I can be in one spot and look at a bunch of different designers.

What styles do you love right now?
A: For the spring, I love jean and cropped jackets, stuff to throw over cute little sundresses. I especially like Elizabeth and James' blazers and jackets. They are super fun and young. Their clothes breathe and feel airy.

What look are you most excited about for the summer?
A: I love '50s style bathing suits, especially that Old Hollywood, high-waisted look. I am a sundress freak—an entire part of my closet is just sundresses. It's so easy you throw one on with a cute jacket and sandals, and you're out the door—and it looks like you tried! 

Is there one accessory you love to wear?
A: I like big post earrings, but my most sentimental is my diamond cross. It was my first piece of expensive jewelry, and it holds a lot of value to me.

Who do you turn to for style advice?
A: Adrienne, in a second. Julissa is more fashion-forward and knowledgeable, but Adrienne knows my personal style better. Adrienne has more of an eye for personal style, while Julissa has an eye for what's hot, in and new. They're a good blend.

What's your skin care routine like?
A: Last week, my makeup was getting done, and they said, "Honey, you need to moisturize!" I used to wash my face with soap and water. So, this is a brand new routine that I am going to try out for a few weeks: A Neutrogena cool refreshing face wash in the morning with a Lumiere Vitamin C after, like a toner, followed up a Cindy Crawford moisturizer on top. My face has been super soft since I started that.

What are you favorite makeup products?
A: I use Bobbi Brown concealer, lashes and a gloss. I am screaming at the door trying to get Julissa and Adrienne to move faster! I don't use much because I don't want to mess up my skin.
