Donny Shows His Sensitive Side
Donny Ware is known as the light-hearted comic of the Hott and Handy crew who loves working with heavy machinery. But there's more to the dreamboat than his great head of hair, charming good looks and unforgettable laugh, he's got a sensitive side, too. Find out more about him below. Then, catch him on the series premiere of Built Monday, January 28, at 9/8c on Style!
How did you get your start in modeling?
I was on my way to my construction site when some guy saw me pumping gas and tried to get me to consider modeling. I kept blowing him off, but he kept harassing me and going up to my construction site. Finally, I saw what he had to offer and went down to Miami myself and found my own agency.
What are some of your favorite perks of the job?
The good thing about modeling is that you get to travel without having to join the military. I have two brothers in the military. I love getting to see how different cultures love. It helps me appreciate how good I have it. I also love that I get to meet a lot of people. There's definitely a life of luxury in modeling.
What's your favorite place you've ever traveled to?
I loved Europe. I thought it was really cool. There's a lot of culture and history to it. I love the architecture of the buildings.
What's your favorite tool to work with?
I like them all. They're all good. If you keep using one tool over and over, it gets boring and old. I love heavy machinery though.
What's something that most people would be surprised to know about you?
I'm actually shy. Getting turned down is the worst thing for me. If I say "hi" to someone and they act like they don't remember me, it's like I got stabbed on my back. That's why I don't say anything. I'll wait for that girl to say something to me first. It's nothing against that person, I just don't like getting rejected. Rejection is a bitch.
How do you deal with rejection in the modeling business?
I have to deal with a lot of rejection with modeling, but usually it's from people who I don't know. If I'm rejected by someone in my personal life, then that's a lot different.
What kind of home do you live in? How's the décor?
I live in a one bedroom. I'm a simple man. I don't have a lot of things. I don't need a lot to be happy. I'm a Capricorn, so I like classic pieces. I also like modern and country accents.
How would you describe your personal style?
I wear what I have. I like to be comfortable. I'll wear the clothes of whatever designer I'm working with, and that's the image I'll portray. As long as I have clothes on my back, it doesn't matter.
What kind of shoes do you usually like to wear?
I have your standard black and brown dress shoe. I also have Asics running shoes. That's pretty much it. I'm simple.
Do you have any celebrity crushes?
Penélope Cruz is hot. She's got that cuteness about her. Her and Salma Hayek are both hot.
What do you look for in a prospective mate?
I look for somebody who's not selfish and who puts others before herself. That way, in case she gets pregnant, you'll know she'll be a good mom. I like a girl who's loving, caring, kind and beautiful-hearted. A good sense of humor is important. I might not say the funniest things, but if I don't get any laughs, it's a wrap.
What do you find sexiest about a woman?
I love everything about women. I love their beauty and elegance. I love their skin. There's not much that I don't like about women. If she's put together well—mind, body and spirit—then I'm game!
What do you love to do on a date?
I like going to the beach and the park. I like to do anything that's active and where we can have fun and have some good laughs.
What's your favorite food to eat?
Lasagna! That melts in my mouth. I love that stuff. I haven't found one place that cooks better lasagna than my mom. She's such an amazing cook.
