Caggie Dunlop on Fashion Without Regrets
Made in Chelsea star Caggie Dunlop answers our questions about her style personality.
What is your overall personal style?
Disheveled chic. I like looking like a bit of a mess sometimes! It's more relatable. And also, when you are properly groomed and put together you can shock people a little bit rather than looking the same the whole time. My hair tends to be quite wild, but it is getting tamer as I get older. I think the curls are going as I am maturing. Accessories tend to be to a minimum—I like a few key pieces. Rings are my favorite item of jewelery by far.
How does that differ from your castmates?
I think I'm a bit more relaxed. I tend to take risks, which may or may not work. But it's what I feel at the time, and that's what matters to me. The other girls are quite typically Chelsea, whereas I'm a bit more rough and ready!
How has your style changed over the years?
It has evolved as I have. You get more comfortable in your own skin, and then you start making riskier decisions—but I guess it's a balance between being current and being true to yourself.
Do you have any major fashion regrets?
I've never regretted anything I've ever worn.
Do you prefer fitted or flowy?
In general, flowy.
What's your go-to hairstyle?
A topknot, I guess.
Who is your favorite designer?
I'm a big fan of Alexander Wang.
Who is a fashion inspiration for you?
Erin Wasson.
How can Made in Chelsea viewers on a budget emulate your unique style?
Very easily. I tend to buy most of my clothes from secondhand stores, so I'm not a big designer buyer. And it's just about having a few key pieces and working with what you've got!
Tell us about three beloved wardrobe items—clothing, shoes, and accessories.
1. My Acne turquoise jumper is great for day or night and so comfy.
2. My new French-sole driving shoes. They're just too cool for school.
3. My turquoise ring from Thailand. It doesn't leave my hand!
What physical attributes do you like to show off when you pick outfits?
I don't really know, to be honest; it's more about the overall look. I've never dressed to highlight a part of my body.
Finish these sentences: I would never be caught dead wearing...
...bright pink platforms.
I never leave the house without...
...my turquoise ring.
The biggest fashion mistake I see women make is...
...not dressing to their shape and size!
What makes an outfit successful?
The attitude you wear it with, without a doubt.
And finally, when is the best time to take a fashion risk?
Any day of the week!
