Ashley's Old School Beauty & Hair Tips

What are your favorite hair products?
Fekkai products are my old standby, but I've recently started using Balboa products from Dermstore as well.

What is your best healthy hair tip?
Find and stick with two great stylists: One who specializes in cuts and another who specializes in color. Work with, be honest with and invest in these people. They should know you and your hair as well as you do. Your hair hangs all over you every day of your life, so be good to it!    

What are your favorite lip products?
Every single lip product I've ever loved has been discontinued. Right now I'm mixing my own into little containers. I think I've got a mix of MAC, Chanel and tons of drugstore 99 centers in the mashup.

What is your daily skin care regimen?
I'm pretty bad, honestly. I sometimes get on a roll where I'll do "spa nights," and but otherwise I just splash my face in the shower and smother it with whatever cream my Dermstore girls are having me try out. I'm actually a huge believer in old school stuff, like Vitamin E oil or Vaseline on dry spots. I think good skin is a combination of what you put into your body, genetics and geography (Los Angeles smog just drives me bonkers!).

What are your top beauty secrets?
I actually took time off from the corporate world when I first moved to L.A. and took classes in movie makeup and special effects. I can paint a mean black eye and make a finger hang off your hand like no other. I can also highlight dark shadows under eyes so it looks like you were not out all night, and I can age myself to about 60 years old with some fun lowlights. However, I don't believe there are any real, true secrets to beauty! I haven't given up hope—I just don't think scientists have found any miracle goop yet. That doesn't mean I didn't once try a Groupon for botox. I did. Lesson learned: Don't Groupon botox...    

Do you have a signature scent?
Donna Karan Cashmere Mist deodorant every day. I have it stashed everywhere. Everyone at work knows where it is and borrows it when they forget their own deodorant. If I'm wearing perfume, it's Quelques Fleur Royal.

What are your must-have travel essentials?
Razor and deodorant. Just looking out for the general public, you know?
